  • Profile name: up to 32 characters, change any time under Edit Profile. Your account name (used to log in) never shows publicly.
  • Steam keeps a list of your recent names on your profile, so friends can still find you.
  • Names are visible in game lobbies, where the game’s own font may lack glyphs: bold, italic and small caps are the safest styles for in-game display.

How do I change my Steam name to a different font?
Steam has no font setting. Copy a styled version of your name from this page, open your profile, choose Edit Profile, paste it into Profile Name and save. The style is made of Unicode characters, so it shows anywhere Steam’s font supports them.
How often can I change my Steam name?
As often as you like. There is no cooldown.
Why do my fancy letters show as boxes in-game?
The game’s font lacks those characters, even though Steam’s client displays them. Choose simpler styles for games you play a lot.
