Your name can only change characters, but a thumbnail, banner or Discord server icon can use any font. This draws your text in a free look-alike typeface and saves a PNG. Jersey 10: a free pixel face with the same blocky feel.

Unofficial look-alike, not the game’s own font or logo. Fonts: Anton, Black Ops One, Cinzel, Jersey 10 (SIL Open Font License).

Put a colour code before a format code: §6§lGOLD works, but §l§6 loses the bold because every colour code resets formatting. In server.properties, write the section sign as \u00A7. Bedrock Edition uses the same codes on signs and in world names.
Where the Unicode styles work
Minecraft Java usernames only allow letters, digits and underscore, 3 to 16 characters, so styled names cannot become your account name. They do work on signs, in books, as anvil item names, in chat on most servers, and in server list MOTDs. Small caps are the favourite for server branding because Minecraft’s default font has pixel drawings for them; many other styles fall back to a smoother Unicode font and look out of place.
